You know it's fall planting time when......

1.) Soil temperatures in your area are approaching 55 degrees F
2.) Fall nighttime temps stay between 40-50 degrees F
3.) You blow out the irrigation system before it freezes
4.) The fall striped bass run is on
5.) The fall foliage has moved just past peak
6.) Squirrels are digging acorns as fast as they can
7.) Birds start grouping
8.) you start to smell wood smoke or burning leaf piles
9.) In the north you close windows---In the south you back off a/c
10.) The grapes are ripening on the vine
11.) You dont hear crickels anymore
12.) While driving, you see leaves bouncing along the road
13.) hostas die down
14.) The dog stops lying in that round hole he dug in the garden, and moves to a sunny spot
15.) Your kids start putting on jackets without any nagging from you
16.) You no longer have to dodge night- flying insects to get in the front door
17.) the koi move to the bottom of the pond and become motionless
18.) You stop wearing white (except me!)
19.) You take the boat out of the water for the season
20.) You look for a blanket in the middle of the night
21.) There's frost on your windshield
22.) You see trucks loaded with firewood
23.) You say "man it cold" for the first time
